Description
"My eBay" is #1 destination on the site for eBay users. While the existing My eBay had a lot of visual clutter, it was also fundamentally lacking in inspiring the users to get back "in action". Our focus with the re-design was to create a system that allowed for a clear path for users to take while interacting with various items making it easier for them to complete their transactions on the site. The broad design goals that we set for ourselves were #1 Simplify and #2 Inspire that would drive the business objective of incremental bids through simplified flows and merchandising replacements.
Role
As the Interaction designer for the beta version of My eBay, I worked along with the lead interaction designer to come up with conceptual interaction models for the landing page. I also worked extensively with the product manager and product development teams early in the process to come up with key requirements. Later in the design phases, my key responsibiilty was to design "inspirational" modules for My eBay, namely "Profile", "Community Updates" and "Watching". All of these designs went through several iterations from the "napkin" phase to "wireframe review", in an "agile" development environment.
